چکیده

The effects of daily metabolizable energy intakes of 9.5 (low), 15.4 (medium) and 24.9 (high) Mcal in pregnant yearling heifers on maternal serum metaboli te concentrations and on fetal development as indicated by RNA, DNA and protein concentrations in liver and semitendinosus muscle were studied in 88 crossbred heifers. Pregnant heifers were slaughtered at 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240 and 255 days of gestation. Average daily gains (kg) were .14, .58 and .95 and fetus, fluids and membranes accounted for 100%, 27% and 16% of the total live weight gain of the heifers fed the low, medium and high energy diets. Maternal serum free fat ty acids (FFA) were not altered (P>.05) by maternal energy level. Glucose concentrations were highest (P<.025) and ureaN concentrations lowest (P<.025) in heifers fed high energy compared to low energy levels. Maternal liver DNA concentrations (mg/g tissue) were higher (P<.025) and the protein/ DNA ratio lower (P<.025) in the low energy diet compared to the medium or high energy diets. Concentrations of liver RNA and protein were not influenced (P>.10) in maternal liver by level of energy intake. Fetal liver and muscle

The impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on fetal brain development

The development of the brain as the most complex structure of the human body is a long process that begins in the third week of pregnancy and continues until adulthood and even until the end of life (1). Human brain myelination begins one to two months before birth in the visual system and eventually lasts until the age of two in other sensory systems and then the motor systems (4). Processes a...

P-127: Characterization of Filia, A Maternal Effect Gene, in Bovine Oocytes and Embryos

Background: Genetic analysis in mice has lead to find about maternal effect genes such as Filia. Filia knock out mice have a 50% decrease in fertility. Filia dysfunction causes disorders in pre-implantation development. Mutations in human Filia gene, cause FBHM (Familial Biparental Hydatidiform Mole) in women. Filia protein in mice is homologous to that of rat and human, so this idea has emerge...

P-26: The Effects of Interferon-Gamma onCarbamazepine-Induced Fetal Malformations inMouse Fetus

Background: One in every 250 newborns is exposed to antiepileptic drugs, inutero .The risk of congenital malformations in newborns, prenatally exposed to antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), is around 5% which is 2 to 2.5 times that of general population; while carbamazepine (CBZ) and valproate (VPA) still provide the treatment of choice in most forms of epilepsy, being efficacious in approximately two-...
